Doesn’t fall just have a special aura about it? There’s a nip in the air, the leaves are changing colors, and you no longer need to order a cold drink at Starbucks. That pumpkin spice latte awaits you! But even more than that there are so many fun and frugal activities for you and your family to do. Here are some that I found wouldn’t put a dent in your pocketbook!
Apple Picking
My husband and I just did this and it was SO much fun! It was only $10 and we got to pick as many apples filled the bag. It wasn’t just picking apples that were fun, but being together and enjoying the cool fall breeze. We saw many kiddos having a blast and it is truly a fun activity to have your whole family join in on!
Fall festivals
There are so many going on right now so be sure and check your local library or your state’s tourist website to find out more! Often times they are free and all you pay for are the fun items they sell or the food they offer. A lot of times they have petting zoos for the kids to enjoy as well.
Harvest Fests and Halloween
A lot of churches host Harvest Fests in place of Halloween. It is a fun and safe way to enjoy the holiday without any creepy costumes lurking around. Plus, there are games and free food to enjoy! If your family is into Halloween, however, throw a frugal party and invite some friends over. Don’t forget to budget for it and also make a costume (or find one at a consignment store) for cheap. It is only for one night so remember that when you run into the “must-have” $50 Captain America costume. When will you be wearing that again?!
Bonfires
I grew up with bonfires and they are one of my most treasured fall memories. I can still remember the smell that the smoke left on my hair and clothes. Grab some meat, buns and condiments and go out to your fire pit and make it a family affair! Roast marshmallows, tell spooky stories, and create some amazing memories!
Road Tripping
Fall road trips couldn’t be better! You don’t have the snow to contend with and you don’t have to blast the A.C. because of the scorching heat. The weather is at its perfect balance so take advantage of it! You don’t have to go very far to find beauty and activities near you. Bring your bikes or go for hike, it is up to you. Also, this time of year is beautiful for photography! So don’t forget your camera!
Whatever you do this fall don’t forget to slow down and enjoy the season! Pick one or a couple of these frugal Autumn activities. God created some beautiful colors that are meant to be appreciated. Enjoy the weather and the cooler temperatures and spend some quality time with your loved ones! You don’t need a better excuse than fall to do so.
